Profile: Amanda from Moo Said The Cow

As part of a new feature on The Bride's Diary Blog, we will be introducing you to individuals who work in the wedding industry... giving you an insight into who they are and why they love what they do!

This week we have been chatting with Amanda, owner and founder of Moo Said The Cow. Amanda spoke to us about her inspiration for creating Moo Said The Cow, her love of her family and some of her past life and business experiences!

• Tell us a little about your business…

Moo Said The Cow is an online baby & toddler department store. I launched it post having my own two little girls where I found that taking them out to shop for things was not ideal. Rather I recognised how fantastic online shopping can be as it allows you to spend more time at the park with your kids and less time getting stressed shopping with them. I saw a gap in the market in that I could not find a department store that catered to all my needs and moosaidthecow was born! I love it!

• What is your role in the business and why are you passionate about it?

I am the Director of the business, the founder & the owner. It sits under the umbrella of another business that I run with Mary Morton my business partner.

• How long have you been working in the industry?

I have over 15 years experience in Marketing. I have worked at companies such as Cadbury, Fosters, adidas, AVEDA, dotti, Just Group and then started my own PR & marketing firm – Spice & Soul. At spice & soul I have had the pleasure of working on lots of different retail and kids brands. The variety has been brilliant. I have also written and published a book – the break up survival guide. I am now in the process of writing my second book about the next stage (more fun) - having kids and raising kids.

• What are some of your past business experiences?

My best business experience has been moosaidthecow and launching a brand and a retail concept that is ours to believe in. It fulfills my values around eco sustainability, education, fun, safety and a love of family. I really want our site to help Mums and Dads and to be something that helps them spend more time with what counts – their families. That is also why I built in the 10% off lifetime discount to all members because I would like people who are starting a family to benefit from designer products without breaking the bank.

• What is one of your favourite recollections from your business?

When I first started the business I was a bride to be, that in itself was pure craziness. The office was based in our home, we were preparing for the big day and the girls were coming in and out of the office, ‘business as usual’. As if that’s possible!

• Tell us a bit about your family and home life…

I feel incredibly lucky I have two gorgeous daughters; Indigo who is 3 years and my little Emily who is 1 years old. I am blessed in that my husband is very hands on and loves to be an active Dad. Our girls love us both equally and we are both totally on the same page that our family is everything to us. My husband and I are in love with each other and our children, we have an extended family around us and good friends. Really that is all you can ask for in life; love, family, happiness and health. We are blessed.

• How do you enjoy spending your spare time?

I love to spend time with friends, drinking a cheeky glass of champagne. Eating out is a passion of mine. Date nights with my husband. Reading the papers in the sun. Cuddling my kids.

• What is your most memorable life experience?

Having my children is my most memorable life experience. The pure joy of the moment and the realisation that you will never have these little poppets out of your mind for the rest of your life! You will always be thinking of them, hoping they are happy and healthy.

• What are your plans for the future?

We want to take moosaidthecow international and are embarking upon that project. I also really want to finish the draft of my second book to supply to my publisher. This book is written by woman, for woman to help woman. I am really passionate about the knowledge woman have and transferring the wisdom between us all.

At the moment Moo Said The Cow are giving all people who become members with Moo Said The Cow a lifetime discount of 10%. Reap the rewards of having 10% off across the store for life by becoming a member at www.moosaidthecow.com.au!
